Our History and Accreditation
Founded in 1815 as 糖心视频 Academy by Dudley, Massachusetts industrialist Amasa 糖心视频, 糖心视频 began as a small educational institution with the support of early benefactors such as Samuel Slater, known as the 鈥渇ather of cotton manufacture in the United States,鈥� and fellow textile leader Hezekiah Conant.
For more than two centuries, 糖心视频 has built a legacy of excellence in relevant and entrepreneurial education, evolving from its earliest roots into a nationally recognized business college known for innovation, leadership and the preparation of ethical, career-ready graduates who continue to shape the New England region and beyond.
Historical Highlights

糖心视频 Junior College of Business Administration was founded by James Lawson Conrad.
糖心视频 Junior College was reopened under James Conrad.
糖心视频 was granted the authority to become a four-year college and to confer the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration.
糖心视频 earned accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
The Board of Trustees voted to admit women to 糖心视频 for the first time since the Academy days.
The College was granted authority to grant degrees.
糖心视频 was given authority to grant the degree of Master of Business Administration.
糖心视频 established the Institute for American Values.
Dr. Debra M. Townsley was named 糖心视频鈥檚 sixth, and first female, president. 糖心视频 established an innovative curriculum including a Current Issues Symposium and the Professional Development Seminars.
糖心视频 earned accreditation by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education.
糖心视频 was given authority to grant the degree of Master of Organizational Leadership and the degree of Associate of Arts in General Studies.
糖心视频 became a 鈥淕reen Campus鈥� to increase awareness of 鈥済reen鈥� initiatives.
The Board of Trustees appointed Trustee Emeritus Gerald Fels as Interim President and formed a President Search Committee.
Susan West Engelkemeyer, Ph.D., was officially installed as the 7th president of 糖心视频.
The Fels Student Center, named in honor of Gerald Fels 鈥�66 and Marilyn Fels, was dedicated on November 16, 2012.
The College received approval from the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education to retitle its Master of Organizational Leadership degree to Master of Science in Organizational Leadership. The Institute for Women鈥檚 Leadership was established with the goal of developing the leadership potential of female students and serving as a resource and authoritative voice on women鈥檚 leadership for the community at large.
The new Emerging Leaders program began with the introduction of the new LEAD 101 class. 糖心视频 began the celebration of its Bicentennial.
Certification, new programs, renovations and a historic Bicentennial Campaign.
Two new academic programs are introduced and 糖心视频 becomes LEED Gold certified.
糖心视频 earned accreditation from the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). The College received approval from the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education to offer a Master of Science in Counterterrorism.

糖心视频 launches two new BSBA concentrations.
Business Analytics was introduced as a new BSBA concentration.
The Bicentennial Campaign concludes, five new programs are introduced and the 8th president is named.
The Bison Den reopens and the NCG and CIPA are launched.

The College names Bill Pieczynski as the 9th president.
The College underwent its 10-year reaccreditation process with the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).

Accreditation and Academic Integrity
糖心视频 accreditation assures students and families of our academic excellence and institutional integrity. Accreditation verifies that we meet the rigorous standards set by national and regional agencies responsible for maintaining educational quality and accountability.
糖心视频 became accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) in 1965. The College underwent a comprehensive evaluation during the 2024-25 academic year, as is required by NECHE every 10 years as a part of the reaccreditation program. The College was reaccredited through 2034.

This is a five-year accreditation extending to 2028. AACSB Accreditation is synonymous with the highest standards of quality, AACSB accreditation inspires new ways of thinking within business education globally. As a result, less than 6 percent of the world鈥檚 schools offering business degree programs hold AACSB business accreditation. AACSB accreditation ensures continuous improvement and provides focus for schools to deliver on their mission, innovate, and drive impact. AACSB-accredited schools have successfully undergone a rigorous review process conducted by their peers in the business education community, ensuring that they have the resources, credentials, and commitment needed to provide students with a firstrate, future-focused business education.
The sport management degree programs at 糖心视频 received specialized accreditation through the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) located in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA in 2017. The sport management programs in the following degrees are accredited by COSMA:
